Light Rail Transit became a reality under Jim’s leadership. Stage 1, the Confederation Line, will open in the coming months, and construction for Stage 2 LRT begins in 2019.
Stage 2 LRT will go farther west to Moodie Drive, farther East to Trim Road, and farther south to Bowesville and Riverside South, with a link to the Ottawa International Airport.
We have also introduced 50% discounted transit passes for low-income residents, making this important service more affordable for those who need to get around our city for employment opportunities and appointments.
Taxes and Affordability
Jim brought fiscal discipline to City Hall by keeping his commitment to cap tax increases to 2.5% or less in his 2010-2014 mandate and to 2% or less in his current mandate.
The City has also maintained its excellent Moodie Aaa credit rating.
Jim Watson brought forward the most comprehensive integrity package in Ontario.
City Hall has never been more transparent: lobbyist and gift registries, appointment of an Integrity Commissioner, and online disclosure of office expenses.
Jim has dedicated most of his career to public service in Canada's capital. Learn more about why Jim is seeking re-election.
Great campaigns are successful with help from great volunteers. Re-electing Jim on October 22 will depend on people like you coming together to protect the progress the city has made over the last two mandates.
